Benjamin Snyder of Alexandria Virginia was the recipient of Jacks Heart at the age of 9. The Martin family, Ben and his mother Cheri have become one family - just as God intended.

Donor Story

Jack Martin was a fun-loving 13-year-old who enjoyed logic games, being in the water, and dancing. He was a good friend and defender of those he cared for. However, although he showed no obvious outward signs of depression, Jack was inwardly struggling and tragically took his own life. Jack’s parents, Liz and Paul, decided to save lives through organ donation amid their loss. Multiple states away, a boy named Ben was awaiting a heart transplant, and thanks to Jack and the Martin family, he got it.

On Christmas Eve in 2020, the Martin family received one of the greatest gifts they could imagine, a letter from Ben’s family. After communication back and forth, in May of 2023, Ben and his mom, Cheri, traveled to meet the Martin’s face to face. Their relationship continues to grow.

An additional legacy grew from Jack’s passing, Operation: Jack’s Village. Through Operation: Jack’s Village the Martin family works to bring awareness to adolescent suicide and create strategies to improve mental health.
